Cabot Varsity Forensics

We are Cabot High School's Varsity Forensics.

People often ask us "What is forensics?"

Forensics is common terms for Speech and Debate.

Speech and Debate is an academic activity typically available to students in middle school, high school, and/or college. Speech involves a presentation by one, two, or sometimes a group of students that is judged against a similar type of presentation by others in a round of competition.

The National Speech and Debate Association, formerly the National Forensic League, is an interscholastic speech and debate organization serving the middle school, high school, and college students in the United States.

Meet Our Captains

2017-2018

This year (2017-2018) we are delighted to have four spectacular team captains. They were chosen based on redeeming qualities such as leadership, sportsmanship, dedication, and a willingness to serve anywhere they are needed. We are very proud to have four captains that can accurately represent our team and everything for which we stand.

Britney McGloflin

"Forensics to me means more than just winning trophies. To me, it's my second family. It means I have this amazing group of people who would do anything for me and I would do the same for them because that's what family is. Forensics has taught confidence and to stand up for what I believe in. I used to be so shy and insecure, but now I'm able to stand in front of people and talk about something I believe in. Overall, it's made me believe in myself more, and appreciate the importance of others."

David Nichols

"Forensics means Home. There's always work to be done - preparing pieces, performing, traveling - but that's not even half of what this program is about. Sure, we compete across the state (and occasionally across the country), but some of the coolest stuff we do is right at home. Working out in the community, whether through performances or not, is a huge part of Forensics, and so is having fun and hanging out with the team. There are so many opportunities here. You can bond with your teammates on long bus rides and overnight or out of state tournaments. You can perform for elementary schools, and get some of the best life advice from our very own Mrs. Akers. I'm so grateful to be a part of this program because it's given me so much in terms of life skills, friendships, and most importantly, family. Forensics is home because there is a family here, forever and always."

Nicholas Whisker

"Forensics to me means having a place where no one judges you for being you. I can really be myself without the fear of judgment. It also means family. I've been apart of many teams in my life, and forensics isn't really a team. It's a family. And that family will last forever. Forensics has given me a place to grow and mature while refining my skills in the arts. It is the best program I've ever been apart of."

Spencer Thompson

"Forensics has taught me so much, from independence that I will need for the future, to dependence on my teammates and learning to care about everyone on the team. Our forensics team has such a close bond that no other program could ever have a chance of making. Forensics brings together people from every background and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I've met some of my closest friends through the program, some of which I would never have met in any other circumstance. Forensics allows us to express us ourselves in an environment that we wouldn't have without it."
